Callie McFay’s dreams are haunted, every night she has the same erotic encounter with a handsome stranger. What she assumes are just vivid dreams turn out to be an encounter with an incubus wanting nothing more than for her to love him. This is only the tip of the story as Callie has started teaching at Fairwick College and after her encounters with the incubus her colleagues assemble to aid her and she learns that most everyone at the college is not who they seem to be.

There is no way I could do this novel justice, for one there are three main story lines to this book instead of the usual one and to tell you each of them is most likely going to spoil on or another of the twists that happen so regularly. Though the novel is a bit busy it makes it interesting as you have no idea what scene will lead to which conclusion. I had a ton of fun reading this one, not only is Callie a highly likable character but the surrounding cast each has their own interesting story. The romance is superb and the bonds that Callie creates make this more than just your average romance novel. I cannot wait to find out more about the college and what will happen next, it is a highly unique well written and beautiful novel.

In an instant your life can be over but what happens afterward? This is a question many people ask, for Aaron and Amber there is life after death they both wake up in Purgatory. They can both sit and wait for their chance to be lead to Heaven but when they learn that there may be another way neither one is content to wait. To get to Heaven they must first travel through hell, once they are there though they are pulled into an epic battle two and a half millennia in the making.

I didn’t quite know what to make of this book but the synopsis was interesting enough to grab my attention, the author starts right off in killing his main characters in some cases this is a bad thing but in this case it proved to be an interesting take on the here-after. I am no master of theology so I won’t go into Purgatory or Heaven and Hell that is up to the readers discretion, what I will say is as a work of fiction this novel is along the lines of an epic fantasy including a battle that could only be imagined and is truly fun to read. This isn’t a romance novel the romance itself is shallow and not as heartwarming as it could be but it is a fantastic action adventure.

Lucky by night and Liora by day the two fell madly in love with Kieron each for their own reasons.  It has been two weeks since Lucky and Liora let him take the ones responsible for their half selves, Kieron was supposed to deliver them for his freedom and return to Lucky and Liora so why hasn’t he come back yet? As time continues to pass and Kieron still has not returned Liora finds herself becoming closer to Tristan, a new student who makes her feel happy and safe which is what she needs right now. Lucky however, finds herself growing closer to her oldest and dearest friend Bones. What will happen when they find out the real reason behind Kieron’s disappearance?

Once again Penelope King writes a fantastic book this one is a bit mature yet still young adult based. The author managed to bring to life a beautiful story, I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Bones and Lucky it was sweet which is unexpected between two demons. Then you have the story progression which was interesting and immensely moving as the author manages to write not one but two heart wrenching love stories. If you have read her other novels you may find it fun that Penelope King also intertwines her other series with this one subtlety yet in an interesting manner. I can’t wait to see what Penelope King comes up with next she definitely ended this book with an unexpected twist making sure that you will want more from this series.

Abigail’s life has just been turned upside down, her mother was killed and now she must adjust to living with an aunt she never even knew existed in a small town in England a far cry from her home in Chicago. But this is just the beginning of Abigail’s story she soon finds out that she is a sorceress and must learn to control her magic before she becomes the target of a more sinister plot. Shortly after she realizes what she actually is strange things begin occurring and she is pulled into a nightmare that stretches all the way back to ancient Africa and the Holy Land.

L.H. Thomson did a wonderful job bringing this story to life and considering he incorporates such places as London, Spain, and Jerusalem that is a remarkable task in and of itself but with vivid details of the landscape each one is impressive in its own way. The story itself is intriguing though Abigail is recently orphaned she is strong and does her best not to let her own life stop with that of her mother’s as she learns more about her gifts she also learns more about her mother and feels a connection with her that she had never felt before it is truly beautiful. But do not misunderstand my review this far it is not a sappy sort of novel but full of extraordinary twists and enough adventure and action to keep you coming back for more.

 Liora was born half demon, one day she was playing in the woods with her firends when two girls came upon them killing Liora’s friends and splitting Liora into human by day and a demon of justice by night, Lucky. Lucky is determined to exact her revenge on the twins who had cursed her into this half-life but Liora only wants to be a normal high school girl and make it through her senior year. But when she meets Kieron her entire world is turned upside down and she begins to fall in love with him knowing that she can never be with anyone because of the life she endures, what she doesn’t realize is Kieron is hiding his own secret and will she be able to forgive him when she finds out that he isn’t what he seems and what happens if he finds out about Lucky?

 

This was a great book if being possessed by a demon isn’t bad enough try sharing an entire life with one and then having to wake up hung-over without having the fun of drinking. Penelope King managed to create an intricate and beautiful story and added just enough twists and turns to make it captivating but not confusing. Not only do the main characters have to deal with falling in love but there are also unexplained murders add on top of it the conflicts each “character” must overcome it is truly remarkable. The author took multiple personalities to a whole new level with this book, it is such an interesting and fun idea I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
