There never seems a right time for Sara and Jack, for one reason or another they are never available at the same time. Now, after three years of flirting they are finally able to be together. Everything seems to be going perfectly, until Jack’s secret begins to surface. Everyone has secrets, some secrets are worse than others and some secrets can change your life forever.

 

This isn’t your average book, it’s written as a full blown adult novel surrounding college students. With tons of passion and steamy encounters, Amelia James has brought to life a great romance novel. The characters are relatable and the struggles they face are realistic. What I loved the most was that the climactic revelation is something that could actually happen, unlike most novels where climax is something so far-fetched, granted still entertaining. Basically if E.L. James and Debbie Macomber had a love child this would be the result of that union. I loved it, though I must warn you it is full of highly adult scenes so it will not be for everyone.

The mirror twins, Julia and Valentina Poole, receive a letter from their mother’s twin sister whom they have never met notifying them that Elspeth has passed away and in her will she has left them everything on the stipulation that they live in her flat in London and their parents are to never set foot in the place.  Soon after they arrive in London they begin to experience strange occurrences in their new home.

Not only is this story about the mirror twins it also revolves around Robert, Elspeth’s longtime lover, who lives downstairs and becomes quite friendly with Valentina, and Martin whom lives upstairs and is agoraphobic and highly OCD whose wife has just left him after twenty plus years because she cannot live this way any longer.

This novel is actually really interesting, I didn’t know what to expect when I picked up this novel. I know Audrey Niffenegger is famous for composing The Time Traveler’s Wife, but I have yet to read that novel after seeing the movie I know the book is sure to make me cry so I have a tendency to skip them. I didn’t expect to be so wrapped up into the story from the very beginning, or should I say the end? This novel starts with Elspeth dying, and then it follows her ghost into the house and everything she experiences from her point of view, which I absolutely loved! The only problem I had with this novel was the ending so I cannot go into too much detail, but it began to drag on and on. I mean when you finish the main conclusion and the story keeps going for another fifty pages that feels a bit too much to wrap up your loose ends. I did enjoy the conclusions though, there were just so many useless details thrown in. Other than that this is an interesting read, highly unique with an intense look at the bounds between twins, though it is highly predictable still enjoyable.

This novel revolves around three stories. First you have Charlie who is a successful model then one day she is brutally attacked leaving her in the hospital. Second you have Naomi, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust working on a dig in Israel when she comes across a picture of a woman in a magazine who must be one of her long lost daughters. Lastly but not least you have Jack who spends his days romancing and swindling women in Buenos Aires after he faked his own death leaving Charlie to fend for herself. As Charlie recovers she begins to help the investigators find her attacker, being pulled once again into a scheme of art forgery.

This is an interesting novel not only bringing to life several places around the world but also creating an interesting and dysfunctional family dynamic full of drama. There is so much that happens in this novel but it isn’t over-whelming in its execution it only succeeds in keeping you wrapped in the story until the very end. With Charlie being attacked, Jack trying to survive the only way he knows how, and Naomi who struggles against her feelings each moment you will be drawn further into an intertwining story.  Though there is less romance in this novel than in the first it is highly dramatic and involving, as the character focus is less on Charlie and more on her parents. When you add in the suspense with the drama and mystery you have a brilliant book that will take you around the world and back making you anxious for more!

Hays is an Elite genetically altered to be perfection personified with super strength and speed, but when Hays finds out he is not actually an elite but was born as a human his entire world is tossed upside down and thrown into a battle as the Elites he once loved and was an integral part of want to exterminate all humans. Together with his adoptive sister he had not known existed, the two work together to aid the human resistance and bring an end to the war between the two factions and along the way their relationship becomes more than either of the two expected.

James Patterson is a fantastic author and this book is no exception he brings science fiction and mystery combining the two into a face paced and unbelievable action and adventure novel. I am not big on the romance he created in this book I know they are not actually related and that they had never met before, but calling each other brother and sister playfully then lusting after her the next minute is a bit weird to me, not to mention he has a wife and kids even though his wife wants him dead after she finds out he is a human. Maybe I am a bit biased since I have read some of Patterson’s romances and I know for a fact he can do much better. That withstanding it is a fun book and a great read.

Kira was born with a special ability she is able to harness the power of the sun and use it to defeat vampires. Kira travels with her guardian and best friend, Luke, to Sonneyville home of a large group of protector conduits to hopefully learn how to control at least half of her powers since she is the only person alive who was born to a protector and punisher the two factions within the conduit community. Once Sonnyville is attacked by vampires who are after her she decides it is time to put an end to it and goes after Diana the one who has initiated the hunt for Kira, if she is able to capture Kira and drink her blood she will be immune to both factions powers.

Kaitlyn Davis writes some of the best action scenes I have come across in a young adult book; they are fast paced and so well delivered making this more than just a silly romance. With this book we get to see more into Kira’s character and her family life in general we also get an introduction to her mother’s family which doesn’t turn out so wonderful to begin with. The overall book is fantastic like I said great action but also the romance is intense but when Kaitlyn Davis throws a monkey wrench into Kira’s relationship with Tristan you can’t help but wonder if she should really be with someone else. Even if you are not a fan of vampire romances I would give this one a try it is not your average series.

Soon after she moved to California and met her maternal grandmother she also met the boy of her dreams literally, Nicholas he too has special abilities and grew up without the guidance of a family but unlike Callista he was able to explore many different facets of the magical world. Now Nicholas is trying to save Callista’s friend Justin and purge him of an ancient gypsy curse that causes him to kill witches making him a witch hunter.

This book is full of twists and turns not only is Callista trying to save her best friend but she also finds out that her grandmother has been hiding devastating secrets from her. We also find out more about Callista’s mother and Callista’s life before she moved from Louisiana, with all that has happened in this book I don’t know how Penelope King will be able to top it but I look forward to find out what she will come up with next.

But when she meets Kieron her entire world is turned upside down and she begins to fall in love with him knowing that she can never be with anyone because of the life she endures, what she doesn’t realize is Kieron is hiding his own secret and will she be able to forgive him when she finds out that he isn’t what he seems and what happens if he finds out about Lucky?

 

This was a great book if being possessed by a demon isn’t bad enough try sharing an entire life with one and then having to wake up hung-over without having the fun of drinking. Penelope King managed to create an intricate and beautiful story and added just enough twists and turns to make it captivating but not confusing. Not only do the main characters have to deal with falling in love but there are also unexplained murders add on top of it the conflicts each “character” must overcome it is truly remarkable. The author took multiple personalities to a whole new level with this book, it is such an interesting and fun idea I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.

I was a little weary to read this book I had some vague idea it would just be dominatrix sex and though interesting I love there to be a good story line. I was surprised to realize this was actually a fun book full of witty commentary from Ana’s Subconscious and Inner Goddess I found myself giggling. Though I must say there were a couple of scenes I could have lived without, but E.L. James did a wonderful job writing this novel the romance was strong and the obstacle they must face is believable and intriguing. This book reads like a young adult novel though it is certainly not for the faint of heart. I kept thinking to myself “It’s an erotic, modern day, more realistic version of Beauty and the Beast.” I am certainly curious enough to see what happens next.
