Politicians are being murdered one by one in mysterious ways that cannot be natural, for instance the man whose heart has stopped that could have been explained as a heart attack except for the fact every bone in his body has been broken. Detective John Yardley, an FBI agent, and Frank Williams are determined to put a stop to these murders at any cost, but when the killer enters into a man’s dreams how will they ever find out who is responsible?

This is truly an original paranormal mystery, I had thought it would be scarier than it actually was but it leaned more towards the mystery side rather than the horror genre. All in all Solitaire Parke does a wonderful job bringing her scenes to life, drawing you into the nightmares of men and a bringing each instance to the forefront so vividly you will cringe. I just wish there had been more action, sometimes it can read rather slow but for the most part it is truly fascinating. With such a story line the novel is absolutely riveting; my favorite scene is when several vehicles run a woman over go around the block to do it again with the drivers having no control over themselves. I would give this one a try it may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is so unique it is worth the read.

Randy Lafitte is cursed when he turned eighteen his father took his own life, then again when his son turned eighteen he was murdered; now his daughter has just turned eighteen and has been kidnapped. Not only does Randy have to pay a hefty ransom but he must also release Lincoln Baker from prison the same man responsible for killing his son.  But this is just the tip of the ice berg as Randy Lafitte will stop at nothing to get what he wants including murdering those who stand in his way dragging his family into a churning void of murder, voodoo, and terror at its finest.

 

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this novel the synopsis is vague at the best but once you read it you realize there is no way to do this novel justice in just a few short words. The author brings to life a new side of Louisiana; all while a hurricane is looming in the distance intent on destroying anything in its path.  The interlacing factors in this novel are so profound that you must thoroughly pay attention you will find yourself lost in the confines of the pages. The story is intricate and immerses you so thoroughly that it is a remarkable book to say the least, what truly makes this story great is that it is believable enough with just the right blend of murder and intrigue with paranormal factors that it comes to life on the pages. This book was definitely an interesting and scary enough story that I almost couldn’t put it down it is a shame that we all must sleep sometime.

What if when you died you were completely aware of what was happening to you, the bugs eating your body and the rotting of your limbs? William Knight’s book brings that very question to life, in a disturbing and realistic way combining genetic modification with the locked in syndrome. Not only does William Knight manage a gruesome novel but he also weaves an addictive tale, Hendrix Harrison is a reporter searching for the truth behind people who have been seen after they have died, Sarah Wallace is a scientist whose body farm start to lose its inhabitants, they work together to put a stop to the evil pharmaceutical company whose drug is directly responsible for these people remaining conscious even after they have started to rot.

This book was absolutely amazing, definitely a new twist on the popular zombies who are mindless murdering creatures. The descriptions are so well written and vivid if you don’t think “eww” at least once there is something seriously wrong with you. If you want a book that will make you reconsider being cremated this is the one for you.

Ghost Writer by Tom Underhill Review

Ghost Writer

This short story sucks you right in beginning with an unknown man asking you to agree to kill a man. He tells you his story and what has happened leading him to want this person dead.

This is one of the most morbid and fascinating stories I have ever read. I wish Tom Underhill would take this story and turn it into a full novel, it was amazing. Even my husband, who refuses to read anything for pleasure, would enjoy this story.

A person of un-known origin who only goes by the name RJ is manipulating people into “repenting” for their sins by killing their coworkers, otherwise the secrets of the sins they have committed will be revealed and their lives ruined. RJ sends them a package and various instructions, inside the package there is evidence of their co-workers corruption, their sins are nothing compared to their coworkers, or so they justify themselves.  Ron Persey and George Hart, two young men who were greatly affected by the murders that have taken place decide to find out who the killer is, taking us on a journey of murder and intrigue.

I truly enjoyed this book, maybe I am warped but the way these people were murdered was ingenious. The “killer” is never actually present for any of it, they just pulls the puppet’s strings, letting someone else pull the trigger.  There were enough plot twists to keep you interested but not too many as to lose you completely, the characters where engaging, the story itself draws you in and will not release you until you are finally at the end.  There really isn’t much I can say without giving the book away and I wouldn’t want to ruin your fun. What I can say is be sure to have tissues available!
