Dominion by Scott M. Baker Review

Dominion
The Vampire Hunters Book Three
By Scott M. Baker

The Vampyrnomicon has finally been found and with it the origins of the vampires and with this Drake Matthews will be able to put an end to the vampire threat and once and for all rid the world of these monsters. Chiang Shih, the master of the vampires, is raising an army with her sights set on a vampire nation in Washington D.C. as the fight comes to a head, who will be the victor, the hunters or the hunted?
Dominion (Book Three of the Vampire Hunters Trilogy)
I thought that book two was really good this book puts it to shame; this is an amazing ending to a trilogy. From the beginning you are caught up into the story as once again the evil vampires are trying to take over the world and the Hunter are more determined than ever to put a stop to them. I absolutely loved how the relationships have evolved and with it will come the heartache of loss, as every war has its casualties. As we had in the second book which I really enjoyed is how the author also narrates the vampires’ side of the story. Though this book has many excellent qualities that are worth the read it also has a startling twist making this one of the best vampire books I have ever come across.

How Beauty Met the Beast by Jax Garren Review

How Beauty Met the Beast by Jax GarrenHow Beauty Met the Beast
Tales of the Underlight Book One
By Jax Garren

Jolie Benoit was always a good girl, the type of girl her high society family expected her to be, but now she is exploring her bad side. She has been working nights as a burlesque dancer when she has a thoroughly satisfying encounter with a gruff stranger who only goes by Wesley. Wesley “Hauk” Haukon is terribly scarred, after serving in Afghanistan he sustained extensive burns over his body, now he works as an Agent for the Underlight. When he meets the beautiful Jolie he knows that there can be nothing between them, that she will never accept his appearance.

Holy Moly! First off if you don’t know I am a military wife, one of my worst fears is for my husband to be injured while deployed. That being said I at the same time love and hate Jax Garren she did such a phenomenal job in bringing Hauk’s back story to life I ended up crying, a lot. It’s a fascinating take on the classic Beauty and the Beast tale; not only with the steampunk aspect but also having the “beast” character being injured in such a way makes the character so much more realistic. I absolutely loved this book, and I cannot wait to see what happens next between the star crossed lovers. Hopefully next time I will have a giant box of tissues by my side.

Low Pressure By Sandra Brown Review

Low PressureLow Pressure
By Sandra Brown

Bellamy Lyston Price never wanted to be associated with the bestseller that she wrote. She had written it for purely therapeutically reasons, but when it is found out that she is the author and the book is based on the murder of her sister when she was twelve years old she is thrown into the limelight. Now as she is going home a sleazy reporter implies that maybe the police convicted the wrong man and she along with her sister’s boyfriend of the time she was murdered collaborates to find out whether the cops had it right or worse, wrong.

Sandra Brown has created an interesting suspense novel full of twists and turns that will lead you deeper down the rabbit hole as it turns out that Bellamy’s sister, Susan, was not quite what Bellamy has remembered and is a much darker character than anyone would first imagine. Full of romance and murder I loved this book, though it is a romance it wasn’t “heavy” on the romance but leaned more towards the mystery side of the story which is a refreshing change. One of the things I found unique is that from the beginning you know who is after Bellamy and why, the fun part is there is more to the villain than first meets the eye as well as being remarkably crazy, but in the end Sandra Brown still has a few tricks up her sleeve to surprise you. All in all this is one heck of a thrill ride and certainly worth the read.

Ice Cold by Cherry Adair Review

Ice Cold
T-FLAC Series Book Seventeen
By Cherry Adair

Rafael Navarro refuses to settle down and allow another woman to become victim to his dangerous lifestyle. Fellow T-FLAC operative Honey Winston has no social skills whatsoever and prefers computers to people. When the two team up to stop a serial bomber that threatens the world’s financial infrastructure they begin with butting heads but soon something more begins to grow between them.
 Ice Cold (T-FLAC #17)
What I love about romance novels is that no matter what is going on around the main characters they can always make time for a kiss. I haven’t read any of the T-Flac series before this, which is a shame as the book jumps right into it so I may have missed something along the way with this one. I did enjoy it though, this is definitely a fun romantic suspense with tons of action interspersed with soft and tender love what more can you ask for? Cherry Adair brought to life a fantastic organization and characters that make this novel amazing. I loved Honey Winston, I mean who can’t relate to liking computers more than people sometimes? The only problem I had with the book is the beginning scene in Germany. I just came back from living the past three years over there and unfortunately a lot of the scene that Cherry Adair created was wrong. I don’t want to go into too many details because if you haven’t been there or haven’t been there recently then you will not even notice it. But if Cherry Adair hadn’t created such a vivid scene I wouldn’t be able to say with certainty that it is wrong. All in all it’s a great romantic suspense and I just might go back and read some more of the series.

Dreams and Nightmares By Ann Werner Review

Dreams and Nightmares
By Ann Werner

Decker Jones has just made it big; she is now a New York Times Bestselling Author. So what do you do to celebrate? You buy the house of your dreams and begin renovation, maybe have a date or two with a cute guy.
On the other end of the spectrum is Albert Crawford, career bank robber until it all comes to an end and he winds up behind bars for the rest of his life.
These two are on a collision course, and only one will be left alive.

Dreams and Nightmares

Ok so I have to confess the title and the cover fooled me I thought this would be a paranormal book, man was I wrong. I really enjoyed the way that Ann Werner weaved the two stories together, two completely different lives and one epic ending. Though it is a bit predictable (well once you figure out it’s a suspense/thriller not a fantasy novel) it still manages to pull a few surprises out of the bag along the way. I wish there had been more to Decker’s relationship with the boy next door, due to the ending, other than that it’s a great read and fun till the end.

Babylon Confidential: A Memoir of Love, Sex, and Addiction By Claudia Christian and Morgan Grant Buchanan Review

Babylon Confidential: A Memoir of Love, Sex, and AddictionBabylon Confidential:
A Memoir of Love, Sex, and Addiction
By Claudia Christian and Morgan Grant Buchanan

Claudia Christian had a starring role on Babylon 5, a science fiction television series. Now she is coming forward with her memoirs revealing a whole new side of herself that few others have seen.

First off since this is a memoir I will not be reviewing the “story” I mean how can you criticize someone’s life? Second I had no idea who Claudia Christian was when I was sent this book for review; they had me at Love, Sex and Addiction. I have never seen Babylon 5 but I did grow up with a parent who watches anything science fiction, yes my mother is a Trekkie, she even has the entire series of Babylon 5 so I know what it is. Luckily for me I didn’t need to know the show to be able to truly get to know Claudia’s story. The book itself seems to get Claudia’s point across precisely, however there were times when the narration would bounce around. It wasn’t hard to follow along so you shouldn’t find yourself lost as you go but I felt it could have “flowed” a bit better. The only thing that actually drove me crazy was all the “name-dropping.” For instance she is describing someone and in one sentence talk about how charming he is and in the next paragraph lists everyone in Hollywood that he knew, I would have preferred more on their own personal character rather than the list of their accomplishments. As for that it can be overlooked and maybe it is a “Hollywood” thing that I missing, otherwise it’s a great read truly fun and absolutely heart wrenching at times.
